I don't know if you know this about me, but I'm terrified of snakes. Absolutely, beyond all reason terrified.
So today, I was heading back to my desk at work and saw a snake just hanging out at the top of the hallway. So I freaked out (seriously), ran past the snake and started pleading with my coworkers to kill it.
My coworker Paul said he wouldn't kill it, but would usher it on outside. Except it then slithered into a closet, which is locked. I can't think about it or I'll have to go home.
Probably just as well, really; then it would be in the parking lot, possibly lying in wait for me.
The rational part of me knows that I am being ridiculous. It's a tiny garter snake, not a cobra. The rest of me? Absolutely freaking the hell out.

I didn't know this about you, but do not feel bad, I am terrified of snakes also. Add spiders to that also. I'll have to post one day about the humongous spider that was in my house...shivers just thinking about it.
I would have been the same way as you regarding the snake. I do not want them anywhere near me, no matter how small they are.

I don't like spiders much, but I'm not as afraid of them as I am of snakes.
So now, every time someone's walked by me tonight, I'm like, "THERE IS A SNAKE IN HERE!" So far, everyone else has been scared, too.
Misery (read: complete, irrational fear) loves company. :)

What if there were BIRDS that came and attacked the snake for you?

Then I would be grateful to the birds. Snakes are scarier than birds. :)

I know exactly how you feel. Mostly because I have an anxiety disorder so I'm pretty irrational about a lot of things. I just know that I to would be thinking about it waiting for me when I go out to my car!

Well, a friend said that she'd probably hurt herself trying to get away from the snake, and so my mind went to me running from the snake, falling down and having the snake slither across my face. And that nearly sent me into a panic attack--really funny, because it didn't even come close to actually happening.

That is just exactly something that would have run through my mind!
